Time to vote...

With the impending completion of a couple of projects (yes you heard right)...a young girl's thoughts have been turning towards what she should tackle next.  Although I had made grandiose plans to finish a number of projects before the end of last year and even though I hadn't quite achieved my objectives, I am not too far away from being able to showcase some FO's for my lovely readers.

So what to knit next?  Well, I have about 4 scarves banked up waiting for me to tackle them.  Two of the scarves actually are for other people however, it just isn't really scarf knitting weather over here at the moment.  Ok, I might be able to fit in a few days of scarf knitting here and there, but most of the time the weather is a little on the warm side to be handling wool with any frequency.  That said, I do still like to have a simple wool project to work on and will probably start one of the scarves shortly.

However, what I really am looking towards is something for ME ME ME!!  Because it is all about me you know.  (Certain people who read my blog will get the extra little joke in this last comment).  Anyway, there are three finalists in the what will I knit next awards.  The yarn for each project has been maturing in my stash for varying lengths of time now, so no additional purchasing is necessary which is good.

Finalist number one...
Peace from Rowan 25 in Rowan Cotton Glace colour Delight.

Cottonglace Peace

As you are probably aware the yarn for this project hasn't been in my stash for that long really.  It is such a cute little cardigan that I know it will be perfect for throwing over the shoulders during those cooler Melbourne days or evenings.  In fact my friend Tam really wants me to make this project next because she thinks it will be great for late February through to late March in Melbourne before the cold weather hits.  My personal opinon is I probably won't get it finished in time to really get use out of it this summer.

Finalist number two...
Gilet No.30 from Phildar Tendences Printemps 05 in Phildar Licorne 108 Cacao

Licorneyarn Zipcardi_1

I think I first became besotted with this project almost a year ago as soon as Phildar released this magazine.  Since then my desire to make this cardigan has really not wavered...even when I found out it is knit in 11 pieces and that there is a shitload of seaming to do at the end!! I purchased the yarn a few months ago and have been planning making it ever since. Again, this is another project which I will get so much wear out of, and I have been wanting a new chocolate brown cardi for quite some time now.

Finalist number three...
Raspy from Rowan's Denim People in Rowan Denim colour Nashville.

Denimyarn Raspy

This yarn has been maturing in my stash for over a year.  I think part of my hesitation about this project is the whole blue fingers syndrome.  Having knit with Rowan Denim previously, I know exactly what to expect.  In fact, although it is summer here and knitting with cotton is perfect, the blue dye tends to run off more if you have sweaty hands.  As time has gone on I have wondered whether I should actually make it in the colour Memphis which is the colour they used in the book.  However, unless someone wants to swap me 14 balls of Nashville for 14 balls of Memphis, (yes I bought a couple of extra balls at the time), I will not be making any extra purchases and Nashville will be here to stay.  (If you do happen to want to swap, please send me an email).  Like the two cardi's listed above, I just know I will get heaps of wear from this jumper when I finally get around to making it.

So there you have it, two fine knit 4ply cardigans and an 8ply jumper that will make my hands turn blue.  Now you can see why I am struggling to make a decision.  In addition to this, I actually really really want to make all of them and have even considered just casting on for all three and plugging slowly through, except that having too many projects on the needles does not tend to work for me at all.  So far I have changed my mind more times than I can count and still cannot come to a decision.  (Maybe I should just scrap all the choices and knit socks all year...HA - like that is going to happen).

So I am throwing myself at your mercy.  What do you guys think I should knit next?  Please vote...and put me out of my misery.

Poll Closed - the results are in!

On the health front, a few of you have still been asking me how I am. Things have definitely improved. I went back to my doctors on Friday and she is really really pleased. I have about another 3 weeks on medication as a precaution more than anything else and I've also been to see my natropath to try and get my immune system boosted. Well it can't hurt I figure.

Stay tuned for the showcasing of a new FO later in the week.

Wow, tough choice - I would vote for all of them too!! And I suppose it depends if you want something for autumn/winter or sooner. So just because I have picked the Gilet No 30...
Hope that helps!

It's funny. I was about to post a very similar poll. I'm on the verge of casting on for 12 different sweaters at once.

So glad that you are feeling better!!

Really really tough choice. I'd love to try knitting all those projects myself! (although I hadn't thought of the blue fingers problem...)
Glad to hear your health is improving- a bit of assistance from the naturopath sounds like a great idea too.

It's a difficult one - they are all so pretty! I went for the Phildar is the end. I am definitely going to do Rapsy at some point this year (mind you, I think I said that last year too...).

Im so glad you are feeling better and that your dr is happy with your progress (thats always a good sign right?).

I voted for peace because Im in a purple mood but also because it's just a cute little cardigan that I'm sure you'll get a lot of wear from.

glad you're feeling better! maybe that awesome aussie summer weather has something to do with it too :)

this is a really hard poll! i love raspy. have you seen knitandtonic's version? really lovely but i can totally understand the whole blue hands thing. what if you wanted to knit on it at lunch and then had to go to a meeting? that would look awfully strange. so i'm going with peace. i love that purple color. it'll look delicious.

Very tough choice because they are all three lovely patterns. However I have voted for Peace 1)for this gorgeous colour and 2)I think it will be the quickest to knit out of the three.

I vote for Peace. Cardigan or state of world affairs, you can't go wrong with peace...

They ARE all nice, but I think I'll vote for Peace. It's lovely, does look quick, and yeah--good for individuals and for countries! (Though, obviously, it would take much longer to make a sweater large enough to fit an entire country, so I'd skip that part.)

Too many Raspys out there... plus the second cardigan is too cute to dismiss :)

I voted chocolate brown because its a color that can work through fall, which is probably when it would get done :-)

It looks like everyone wants to see you go crazy knitting all those pieces for gilet 30. I must admit, that's my favourite but I love Phildar - I wish it was more readily available.

Tough choice, hope the poll helps. But I am in awe of the fact that not only do you have such good taste for projects that you actually have the yarn! (and not a substitute..I can only live vicariously!)Good luck!

Go the Peace. It'll take less time than you think, and looks fab. And remember, it is all about you (and not about some dropkick)!

Hope your toe is feeling better as well...tough decision on the projects, I'd start all of them and then see which one wins in the long run ;p

My choice is not winning, so I have nothing else to say!

Just kidding. I'm finally catching up with my blog reading and commenting and after reading your last few posts, I want to wish you the best of luck in life and love and especially good health for 2006.

ps. What's wrong with blue fingers?

New reader de-lurking:
I voted for the brown Phildar. I think that is the one you really want to do anyway. You say you've wanted to make it for some time. Your desire has not wavered in that time. You'll get lots of wear out of it and you want a brown cardi anyway. Sounds like a "no brainer" to me. :-)

You already know what my vote is as you refered to me in the actual post, but when I had a look at the comments, the one above surprised me because I didn't think I had commented....and it turns out you have 2 people called Tam who read your blog!!

Glad to hear you are doing better!

As for the projects, that is a tough choice. I personally like the Phildar best, although the Rowan cardi is rather cute...

I can see where you have the difficulty in your choice. However, I had to vote the Peace from Rowan 25. Its just so cute. In fact, I think there are quite a few cute tops in that Rowan 25.

Looking forward to seeing what wins.

Delurking to vote for the Gilet! Peace nearly won, but I think you will get more cooler weather wear out of the gilet. And there's something very satisfying about *finally* getting round to knitting something you've wanted to do for *ages*. :)

Peace is soooo cute. I just love it. Although, I'm also a fan of the other two (I made the Phildar cardi). You'll have fun with whichever one you choose. Glad to hear you're ok on the health front!

Hi J! I am very glad to hear that you are feeling better, and that the dr is pleased. That is wonderful news!

I love all three - but I voted for the Phildar since I have seen so few of those around the blogs. Looks like that one is winning too ;)

Peace out all the way. Fewer pieces. Super feminine. Love the colour. Good luck choosing. I know how democratic these votes really are. Corrupt!
